This tournament will be a Timed Classic Match Play format consisting of group match play in groups of 4 players (and 3 players as well if the total number of players is not divisible by 4) on classic games (games that don’t have or didn’t originally come with a DMD or LCD) only. Maximum of 24 players are allowed in the tournament. Cost to enter: $10.
The scoring system used will be 5-3-2-1. For 4-player groups, first place gets 5 points, second place gets 2 points, third place gets 3 points, and last place gets 1 point. For 3-player groups, first place gets 5 points, second place gets 3 points, and last place gets 1 point. The MatchPlay software will handle the scoring for each player.
After the tournament begins, a timer will be started to countdown to zero. The amount of time on the timer will depend on the player count. Rounds will continue to be started until the timer reaches zero after which point no new rounds can be started. Whatever round the tournament is in at that point will be the last round of the tournament. This tournament will have no final.
For the first round, players will be randomly assigned to groups. For subsequent rounds, players will be paired using balanced pairing.
Any extra balls are to be plunged. Players are allowed to set up a lane skill shot if they want to before plunging their ball. Once the ball is plunged, the player is not allowed to flip and must let the ball drain on its own. Nudging is not allowed on the extra ball at all. Inadvertently playing an extra ball beyond plunging for a skill shot is an automatic DQ in the game (coming in last).
Players are responsible to check that it is their turn before they play their ball. Any player who plays out of turn will be disqualified from that game and take an automatic last in the game.
Top 4 players get a medal and the top 4-8 players (depending on the number of players participating) get a cash prize as well.
